Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the PaperPilot Chrome extension and the paperpilot.tools website (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

PaperPilot provides AI-generated summaries of scientific papers you view in your browser. Summaries are produced by a third-party language model and may contain errors. Do not rely on a summary as a substitute for reading the source paper.

2. Accounts

You sign in with Google. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Plans and billing

• The free plan includes 5 summaries per calendar month. Cache hits do not count against this quota.
• Pro plans are billed monthly ($9) or annually ($59) via Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from the "Manage" link in the PaperPilot sidebar (which opens Stripe's Customer Portal). Access continues through the end of the paid period.
• We do not offer prorated refunds, but if something goes wrong, email us, we'll usually make it right.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute generated summaries as a standalone service.
• Use the Service to circumvent paywalls of papers you do not have legitimate access to.
• Probe, scrape, or attempt to extract underlying model weights or system prompts.
• Submit content that violates third-party rights or applicable law.

5. Intellectual property

Paper content remains the property of its original authors and publishers. Generated summaries are derivative works created on your behalf; you may use them for personal research, citation, and internal team distribution. The PaperPilot software and brand belong to us.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." AI-generated summaries may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. We make no warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "last updated" date.
